Phillies Minor League Report: Carlos Tocci homers during Lakewood loss

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Wednesday, July 16:
Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
IronPigs pitcher Luis Garcia saw limited action, but still helped the International League defeat the Pacific Coast League, 7-3, Wednesday in the Triple-A All-Star Game at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.
Garcia was one of 11 International League pitchers used during the contest, and only saw 0.1 of an inning of action. He gave up one hit during his time on the mound.
The IronPigs will be back in action at 7:05 p.m. Thursday when they host the Syracuse Chiefs at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. Barry Enright (4-8, 5.13 ERA) is scheduled to start for Lehigh Valley.
Reading Fightin Phils – Double A
Four Fightin Phils were a part of the Eastern League Eastern Division All-Stars that fell to the Western Division, 5-2, at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona Wednesday.
Carlos Alonso saw two plate appearances where he was able to record a hit. Albert Cartwright saw only one plate appearance, which ended in him striking out.
Pitcher Hoby Milner started for the Eastern Division, as he recorded a strikeout and a walk in only one inning on the mound.
Fellow pitcher Colton Murray was a late addition to the Eastern Division roster and only saw 0.1 of an inning of work. He was the last pitcher used by the Eastern Division.
The Fightin Phils will be back on the field at 7:05 p.m. Thursday when they host the New Britain Rock Cats at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading. Chris Bootcheck (0-2, 11.25 ERA) will start for Reading.
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers received an extra day off thanks to rain postponing their game against the Bradenton Marauders at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, Fla. Wednesday.
The game has been rescheduled for Thursday, as it will be part of a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
Colin Klevin (3-7, 5.11 ERA) is scheduled to start Game 1 while Jeb Stefan (5-8, 5.70 ERA) will start Game 2.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
Pitcher Jon Prosinski struggled on the mound while the rest of the BlueClaws struggled at the plate during a 7-2 loss to the Hickory Crawdads Wednesday at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, N.C.
The loss was the BlueClaws' fourth in their last five games.
Prosinski allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits during 5.1 innings of work. He was handed the loss, which dropped him to 3-3 on the season as a result.
The BlueClaws offense didn't fare any better, as they mustered only five hits. The BlueClaws' lone highlight was provided by center fielder Carlos Tocci, as he hit a two-run homer during the eighth inning.
The home run was his first of the season. He now has 24 RBI on the season as well.
The BlueClaws will take on the Crawdads again in a rubber match at 7 p.m. Thursday. Yacksel Rios (3-0, 3.28 ERA) will start for Lakewood.
Williamsport Crosscutters – Class A-Short Season
After winning five consecutive games last week, the Crosscutters have now lost four out of their last five after squandering an early lead on their way to losing, 7-3, to the Staten Island Yankees at Richmond County Ballpark in New York.
The Crosscutters plated all three of their runs during the second inning thanks to RBI hits from first baseman Rhys Hoskins and catcher Deivi Grullon.
Unfortunately for Williamsport, that was the end of its scoring during the contest.
Meanwhile, the Yankees plated four runs off Williamsport starter Mitch Gueller and three more off reliever Mark Meadors to surge to a victory.
Gueller was dealt the loss, which puts him at 3-2. Grullon led the Crosscutters with two RBI. Second baseman Derek Campbell led the team by going 2-for-4 with a double.
The Crosscutters wrap up their series with Staten Island at 7 p.m. Thursday. Left-hander Brandon Leibrandt will be making his first start with Williamsport.
