Phillies Minor League Report: Ben Lively picks up first win for Reading

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Monday, April 27:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs fell, 7-4, in their series opener with the Durham Bulls Monday at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown on Monday night.

Adam Morgan took his third loss of the season, giving up five runs (one earned) on nine hits in 5.2 innings of work. Morgan also struck out two during his start.

Left fielder Jordan Danks was 3-for-5 and is batting .298 on the season. Domonic Brown was 1-for-5 with an RBI and is batting .139 in the minors.

Third baseman Maikel Franco went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI for the IronPigs. Franco is batting .338 this season.

Catcher Tommy Joseph continued to struggle at the plate going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and is batting .156 this season.

Lehigh Valley continues their series with Durham on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Paul Clemens (0-1, 4.91 ERA) takes the hill for the IronPigs.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

The Fightin Phils blanked the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-0, Monday night at The Diamond in Richmond, Va., to earn their 10th win of the season.

Ben Lively was dealing for Reading, striking out seven batters in seven scoreless innings of work. Lively picked up his first win of the season.

Center fielder Roman Quinn was 1-for-5 with a homerun. First baseman Brock Stassi went 2-for-4 with an RBI and is batting .357 on the year. Third baseman Gustavo Pierre also finished 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Fightin Phils.

Reading takes on Richmond again Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Aaron Nola (1-2, 3.06 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Fightin Phils.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers pulled away from the Tampa Yankees during the 10th inning in their 8-5 victory at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla. Monday.

The Threshers went into the 10th in a 5-5 tie with the Yankees. That was until left fielder Andrew Pullin and right fielder Dylan Cozens drove in two of the three runs plated during the frame.

Mark Leiter took the mound during the bottom of the 10th and retired the side in order to secure the Threshers' victory.

Leiter's first save of the season came after the Threshers squandered a pair of leads during the contest.

After jumping on the Yankees to the tune of three runs during the first inning, starting pitcher Victor Arano let them back into the game by coughing up three runs during the fourth and fifth innings.

The Yankees rally ended Arano's rough evening. He allowed three runs on nine hits during 5.1 innings of work.

Arano did not receive the win, as that went to relief pitcher Ulises Joaquin, despite the fact he let up a two-run lead during the eighth and ninth innings, which sent the game into extras.

Offensively, the Threshers collected nine hits thanks in part to Cozens, who went 3-for-5 from the plate with three RBI. Designated hitter Willians Astudillo and first baseman Zach Green also drove in runs for Clearwater.

The rubber match in the series between the Threshers and Yankees will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Miguel Nunez (0-1, 7.30 ERA) is slated to start for Clearwater.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws had the day off Monday, but will be back on the field at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday when they face the Augusta GreenJackets at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, Ga.

Ricardo Pinto (1-0, 2.84 ERA) will start for Lakewood.
