Ertz, McKelvin ruled out for the game

Tight end Zach Ertz and cornerback Leodis McKelvin have both been declared out for the Eagles' game Monday night in Chicago.

Tight end Zach Ertz and cornerback Leodis McKelvin have both been declared out for the Eagles' game Monday night in Chicago.

Ertz has a displaced rib and McKelvin has a strained hamstring. Brent Celek will start at tight end and Trey Burton will also receive a bump in playing time.

The Eagles will go into the game with only three active cornerbacks: Nolan Carroll, Ron Brooks, and Jalen Mills. Pederson said Brooks would start in the base package and move to the slot in the nickel and dime packages, with Mills playing on the outside. The Eagles will not add a cornerback for the game.

"We feel comfortable where we're at right now, obviously with the addition of [Terrence] Brooks and the ability to shuffle some guys around back there," Pederson said.

Safeties Malcolm Jenkins, Jaylen Watkins, and Rodney McLeod can all help out at cornerback, if needed.

Extra points

Pederson had not heard from the league regarding Lane Johnson's expected suspension, so Johnson will be in the lineup in Week 2.

"I'd rather know now than later," Pederson said. "But until then, he's the guy."
