S.J. wrestling: Kingsway reaches Group 5 championship

Kingsway rattled off three consecutive pins on Wednesday night to seal a 36-31 win over host Egg Harbor in the South Jersey Group 5 semifinals.

Kingsway rattled off three consecutive pins on Wednesday night to seal a 36-31 win over host Egg Harbor in the South Jersey Group 5 semifinals.

Trace Kinner recorded a pin in 2 minutes, 27 seconds at 120 pounds. He was followed by his brother, Quinn, who pinned in 3:04 at 126. Atlee Cullison clinched the upset with his 65-second pin at 132.

The win moves third-seeded Kingsway into Friday night's final against top-seeded Southern Regional, who knocked off Cherokee, 50-21. Cherokee's Colin Wickramaratna (113), Daniel Cascio (170), and Shawn Webb (145) each won by fall.

S.J. Group 1. Paulsboro captured the first five bouts en route to knocking off visiting Woodstown, 43-17. Josh Bailey opened the bout with a pin at 220 pounds. Heavyweight Jake Medica followed with a fall.

On Friday, Paulsboro will meet Buena, who downed Pennsville, 40-27.

S.J. Group 2. West Deptford's John Delia scored a major decision at 106 pounds as the visiting Eagles slipped past Cinnaminson, 35-25.

Delia's win was sandwiched between four straight wins by Cinnaminson, as the hosts rally fell short. West Deptford's Dylan Fischer opened the match with a fall at 126 pounds. Cameron Shields added a major decision at 170.

S.J. Group 4. Clearview won nine straight weight classes by fall as the Pioneers rolled over Absegami, 66-9. David McCullough started the streak with a 2:24 pin at 113 pounds. Harry Eisenhart closed out the streak with a 58-second fall at 170.

Clearview will meet Cherry Hill West on Friday for the group title.

Cherry Hill West rolled over Shawnee, 37-18. Connor Rogovich put West on the board with a 3-2 decision at 160. Manny Morales (170) and Brandon Moore (220) added technical falls.

S.J. Non-Public A. Camden Catholic's Mark McCormick scored an 11-4 decision at 138 pounds as the Irish fell to Christian Brothers, 57-15.

S.J. Non-Public B. Greg Long opened up Holy Cross' 59-19 win over Donovan Catholic with a fall and the Lancers never looked back. Avery DiNardi (160) and Matt Correnti (220) added pins.
