Roman grad Fuller to declare for NFL draft

Notre Dame receiver Will Fuller, a graduate of Philadelphia's Roman Catholic High, called it a change of mind more than a change of heart.

Will Fuller called it a change of mind more than a change of heart.

Notre Dame's leading receiver, who played his high school ball at Roman Catholic, announced Sunday via Twitter that he would forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft - this, nearly two months after Fuller, unprompted, said he would be back for another season in South Bend, Ind.

Fuller tweeted, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Under that message was his announcement.

"My heart truly wanted to return to Notre Dame," Fuller said. "But it has also been a lifelong dream to play football in the NFL. After taking all of this into lengthy consideration, I believe it is in my best interest to forego my senior season and enter the NFL draft."

He is the second Irish player in two days to say he's entering the draft. Running back C.J. Prosise did the same Saturday.

Fuller, a 6-foot, 184-pounder, had 1,145 yards and 13 touchdowns receiving during the regular season. He added 113 yards and an 81-yard touchdown catch, the longest play allowed by Ohio State this season, during the Fiesta Bowl.

Fuller had five career scoring receptions of at least 72 yards, most in Irish history by three. The TD in the Fiesta Bowl was his 10th touchdown catch of at least 30 yards this season.

He finished his college career with 144 catches for 2,512 yards and 30 touchdowns, and is projected to be a late first- to second-round pick.
