REMEMBER WHEN Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman went off on 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree after January's NFC title game?

Sherman can't forget.

The back story: Late in the game, Sherman tipped a pass intended for Crabtree that was then intercepted by Seattle linebacker Malcolm Smith, thus sealing the Seahawks'23-17 win.

After the game, Sherman - in an epic interview with Fox Sports' Erin Andrews - proclaimed, "I'm the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that's the result you gonna get."

Fast forward to last night's debut episode of "American Muscle" on the Discovery Channel, which was previewed yesterday by USA Today's "For The Win" web page.

"It's not going to be something that goes away." Sherman said on the show. "I hope to play him every year for the rest of my career and choke him out."

Bambino ball

Wanna buy the first home run ball ever hit at the old Yankees Stadium? Belted by Babe Ruth no less?

We're not talking about the one he smashed the day the stadium opened in 1923. Rather, this is the one he hit on a snowy Valentine's Day that same year, before the stadium even had a name.

The story goes that the sports editor of the New York Daily News, talked the Bambino into attempting to swat a ball to the rightfield home run porch. Ruth, of course, did. And, when a construction worker retrieved it, Ruth signed it, "New Yankee Field Feb 14-23 Babe Ruth."

Joel Platt, a collector from Boca Raton, Fla., said he purchased the ball from the worker's family years ago "for several thousand" dollars.

He has it up for bid at Goldin Auctions. The highest online bid as of yesterday was $65,000. Platt is hoping to get as much as $4 million by the time the final gavel falls at the live bidding at the Babe Ruth Birthplace & Museum in Baltimore on Saturday.
