Villanova’s Fisher to have MRI

Villanova senior guard Corey Fisher is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his right knee on Wednesday.

Villanova senior guard Corey Fisher is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his right knee on Wednesday.

"He's got a deep thigh bruise, which is bothersome, so he's been struggling a little bit," coach Jay Wright said. "But he's also had a nagging injury in his knee all year. We thought it was tendonitis. We still think it's tendonitis, but we want to get it checked and just to try to clear his head."

Fisher is averaging a team high 15.7 points per game in 30 games.

Regarding Fisher's lingering injuries, Wright said, "I think it's starting to wear on him. He's thinking, 'It's my sernior year ,and I have to deal with this. We're not playing well.' I think that's wearing on him a little bit. . . . I thought he played well against Notre Dame fighting through it."

Fisher broke out of an 0-for-21 drought on three-point attempts with a pair of baskets from deep in the second half in Monday night's 93-72 loss to Notre Dame. He led the Wildcats with 22 points.
