Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
The IronPigs were trailing the Pawtucket Red Sox, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth inning at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa. when the game was delayed due to rain.
The game will resume as a part of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Right-handed starter Sean O'Sullivan had allowed a three-run fourth in the game. He allowed five hits, including a solo home run, and five walks while striking out one.
The offense answered with two sacrifice flies by center fielder Leandro Castro and designated hitter Russ Canzler before rain halted the frame.
The Fightin Phils are currently 49-55 on the season.
Reading Fightin Phils – Double A
The Fightin Phils lost the rubber match of a series with the Erie SeaWolves, 6-1, at Jerry Uht Park in Erie, Pa.
After two batters, Reading took an early lead after second baseman Albert Cartwright drew a leadoff walk and scored on right fielder Peter Lavin's RBI double.
That's the only run the Fightin Phils could manage.
Right-handed starter Severino Gonzalez (6-11, 5.09 ERA) was rocked for six runs on 13 hits, two walks and a hit batsman over four-plus innings. Gonzalez was hurt by two home run balls and took the loss.
Lavin (3-for-4) and first baseman Brock Stassi (3-for-4) combined for six of the offense's seven hits.
The Fightin Phils (42-59) return home to host the Akron RubberDucks in a four-game series. Righty Ryan O'Sullivan (4-5, 3.38 ERA) is slated to start the opener on Thursday.
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers blew a 4-0 lead and fell to the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 10-6, at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.
The offense banged out 13 hits, but was still outhit, 15-13.
Second baseman Angelo Mora helped the Threshers build the early lead with a two-out, two-run triple in the second inning.
After four scoreless, right-handed starter Colin Kleven ran into trouble and surrendered the lead. Kleven was charged with four runs on seven hits in five-plus innings.
Three Threshers scored twice in the game: third baseman Harold Martinez (3-for-4 with a double), catcher Gabriel Lino (3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and a strikeout) and left fielder Everette Williams (2-for-4 with a triple and a walk).
The Threshers (13-19 in second half, 30-70 overall) begin a four-game series with the Jupiter Hammerheads on Thursday as righty Miguel Nunez (3-7, 5.74 ERA) toes the rubber.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
The BlueClaws were crushed by the Greenville Drive, 9-2, at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood Township, N.J.
A bullpen implosion was the reason for the loss as relievers Daniel Child and Matt Hockenberry were tagged for a combined eight runs in the last two innings.
A two-run sixth gave the BlueClaws a lead as second baseman Andrew Pullin (2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored) and first baseman Zach Green (1-for-4 with a double and two strikeouts) knocked in runs.
Left-handed starter Yoel Mecias had a serviceable outing as he held the Drive to a run on two hits over five innings.
The BlueClaws (11-21 in second half, 38-63 overall) turn to righty Jon Prosinski (3-3, 4.66 ERA) as the series continues on Thursday.
Williamsport Crosscutters – Class A-Short Season
The Crosscutters blanked the Batavia Muckdogs, 3-0, to complete a two-game sweep at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pa.
The pitching staff scattered eight hits, led by left-handed starter Brandon Leibrandt (1-0, 0.75 ERA), who gave up two hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings for the win.
Third baseman Derek Campbell (2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two runs scored) fueled the offense from the leadoff spot.
The Crosscutters (20-19) remain home to host the Mahoning Valley Scrappers for a three-game series. Righty Feliberto Sanchez (1-4, 6.75 ERA) takes a turn in the rotation in the opener on Thursday.
