Letters: Seeing red over Greene

I JUST GOT done reading yet another article on PHA Director Carl R. Greene, and I am furious. How does someone who makes over $300,000 a year not pay his mortgage or his other bills? Did he just forget, or did he think that, because of who he is, nothing would happen to him?

He doesn't open his mail, he didn't have an outside job. What, $306,370.00 a year isn't enough for him? He's single, for crying out loud, and no kids are mentioned, so where does all the money go that he makes? Fine, he did a few good things for the city, but they didn't benefit me. And now he's denying he sexually harassed his employees? Sorry, but I don't believe him.

I've been looking for a job for over 3 years and I can't get anything. It's not that I'm not qualified, but most of the ones I've seen are scams. But Mr. Greene gets to keep his cushy job without a care in the world.

I say, out with the old and in with the new. I'm sick and tired of hearing about crooked cops and crooked politicians. And we're supposed to vote for these people?

Count me out. I'm done with this city.

Blame Motel 6, not liberals

Liberals didn't force Dr. Laura Schlessinger off the air. At least two national sponsors – General Motors and Motel 6 – dropped her program after the "n-word" episode. Economic pressure from sponsors forced her resignation, not Media Matters or the left-wing blogosphere. The first amendment protects Dr. Laura's right to say controversial things, but it doesn't guarantee her a soapbox, financial sponsorship or freedom from criticism when she steps over the line.

Instead of pointing the finger at liberals, Christine Flowers should spend more time wondering why the Republican Party continues to tolerate race-baiters like Dr. Laura, and why her supporters rush to defend even her most offensive remarks.
