Letters | Letting go of the past

IN ANSWER to letter-writer Michael Harmon: What I was trying to get across in my letter was that being paid for reparations is not a problem of ours. If you want to go back and get paid for things from the past, let's go back 42 years when my cousin was killed in Vietnam.

IN ANSWER to letter-writer Michael Harmon:

What I was trying to get across in my letter was that being paid for reparations is not a problem of ours. If you want to go back and get paid for things from the past, let's go back 42 years when my cousin was killed in Vietnam.

The only thing my relatives got was a flag for his honorable service. They never expected anything more.

So how could you have lost 50 million relatives? That is one large family, if you ask me! It's time to move on with history, teach your children about the past and get on with the future.

I'm not against anyone being treated with dignity and respect. We have to teach our children right from wrong and to like and respect each other no matter who you are - and not just in a time of a disaster.
