Letters | Ronnie, the only thing we 'fear' are the ILLEGALS

IWAS READING Ronnie Polaneczky's article on the George Washington President's House project, and one line jumped out at me. She speaks of "Our fear of immigrants." Ronnie, knock it off. People don't "fear" immigrants, they just want them to follow the rules that many millions of immigrants did before them to live in this great nation.

I would guess that everyone who reads this paper knows someone who's an immigrant. My family is, and, based on your name, you are.

Most Americans are happy to welcome new people into our country - it's what makes us what we are, and enriches us as a people. But we want them to follow the rules. Lawbreakers are the people we "fear." Not the immigrants who follow the rules.

The lessons of the NEA

The NEA had its convention, and here's what we learned:

John Edwards doesn't want vouchers - the heck with parents who do.

Mrs. Bill Clinton doesn't want you to learn by memorizing things - because you might remember all the lies she and her husband have told you.

Chris Dodd wants to lead the "union goons" to "convince" anyone with a different view that the union way is the only way - even if it doesn't educate the kids.

Actually, these are all things that might help solve the school budget deficit - because there won't be any kids going to school in a few years if the Democrats win in 2008.
