Letters | The 9/11 estate of Ken Caldwell

IWANT TO thank Jill Porter for her excellent column about Elsie Goss-Caldwell and her struggle to defend the estate of her son, Kenny Caldwell, killed in the 9/11 World Trade Center attack.

IWANT TO thank Jill Porter for her excellent column about Elsie Goss-Caldwell and her struggle to defend the estate of her son, Kenny Caldwell, killed in the 9/11 World Trade Center attack.

Her loss was compelling, and her courage in the face of this subsequent hardship is remarkable.

I want to note the commitment of people who've fought with Elsie and those who've suffered because of the 9/11 tragedy. The estate of Kenny Caldwell has been represented by Mitchell Clair, on a pro bono basis, a member of an organization of trial attorneys called Trial Lawyers Care.

It was established by the American Association for Justice (formerly the American Trial Lawyers Association) to assist hundreds of families in coping with the aftermath of 9/11.

Mitchell Clair and other Trial Lawyers Care members merit recognition for generously lending their talent and time to Elsie Goss-Caldwell.

Anthony Green, Exec. Director

Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Assn.

Thank you, Ms. Porter.

Your article on Ms. Caldwell was "right on the money."

How dare this deadbeat person (I won't call him "dad") blame the spouse for his bad behavior?

He wasn't there when it mattered and shouldn't benefit from the death of the person he wasn't a father to.

There are so many cases like this - any man can make a baby, but it takes a real man to be a father. Leon Caldwell should be ashamed of himself for trying to "cash in."

Ms. Caldwell has been through hell losing her son and now has to go through killing her child all over again.

I applaud her will to fight this so-called "father" and I hope she continues to do so.

I also sincerely hope the courts turn this man down for what works out to be lottery money on a ticket he did not purchase.
