Joseph C. Minniti | Physician, 89

Joseph C. Minniti, 89, of Overbrook Park, a Northeast Philadelphia osteopathic physician, died of complications from a foot infection Tuesday, April 26, at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill.

Joseph C. Minniti, 89, of Overbrook Park, a Northeast Philadelphia osteopathic physician, died of complications from a foot infection Tuesday, April 26, at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill.

Born in Paulsboro, Dr. Minniti worked from 1939 to 1942 as a chemist at the DuPont Co. dye works in Deepwater, N.J.

During World War II, he was an instructor of Air Force navigators in Louisiana and, in the closing months of the conflict, was a navigator on flights that supplied troops in the Philippines.

Dr. Minniti graduated in 1952 from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. A son, Joseph C. Jr., said Dr. Minniti taught there from 1962 to 1970. In 1968, Dr. Minniti self-published My God and a Happier Life.

Dr. Minniti is also survived by sons Carl, Gregory, Michael and Matthew; daughters Heather and Eva McCarty; five brothers; a sister; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

His son said Dr. Minniti's first wife, Eva, from whom he was divorced, died in 1998, and that he is survived by his second wife, Kathy Minniti. His third wife, Fran, died in 1993.

A viewing was set for 7 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the Edward J. Petner Funeral Home, 6421 Frankford Ave., with a graveside service at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Upper Makefield.
