Dr. O'Malley served on the boards of the Springside School and the Foundation for Melanoma Research. She was a volunteer for Young Audiences of Eastern Pennsylvania, which sponsors children's programs in the arts. She loved music and had studied voice in her youth, her sister said.

In recent years, Dr. O'Malley had been a member of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill, where a memorial service was held Thursday, July 22.

In addition to her sister, she is survived by a son, Brendan; daughters Aine Pappas and Sibyl; four grandchildren; and her former husband, Shaun.
