A funeral service is planned today at 12:30 p.m. for former heavyweight boxer Dan Bucceroni, who died Wednesday of a heart attack at age 80.

The funeral will be at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Harleysville Pike, Franconia, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A Philadelphia native, Mr. Bucceroni lived in Hatfield. He won the Philadelphia Diamond Belt amateur championship as a light heavyweight in 1945.

As a professional, he was known as "the Butcher Boy." He compiled a 46-6 record with 30 knockouts as a heavyweight. Mr. Bucceroni was a top contender for Rocky Marciano's heavyweight crown in the 1950s, but he never fought for the title. Among his victories was a 10-round decision over Roland LaStarza at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 21, 1951.
