Iverson's divorce heats up - yet again

The celebrity website TMZ is reporting that Allen Iverson's divorce from ex-wife Tawanna is growing even more contentious.

The celebrity gossip website TMZ is reporting that Allen Iverson's divorce from ex-wife Tawanna is growing even more contentious.

New court filings show that Tawanna is claiming the long-time Philadelphia 76er went on a spending spree after she filed for divorce in June, leaving her broke.

Tawanna further says Iverson stopped making deposits in their joint bank account.

She claims he then withdrew $20,000 to spend on diamonds and jewelry. Worse, TMZ says, the account was, "$23,000 in the red," leaving her unable to pay bills or provide for the couple's five children.

She claims in the court papers that Iverson is worth more than $20 million.

Iverson denies the allegations.

The Iverson's have a stormy marital history. They met as teens at Bethel High School in Hampton, Va.

Allen Iverson was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the number one pick in the 1996 NBA Draft and was rookie of the year.

The couple wed Aug. 3, 2001, a few months after Iverson and the Sixers lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.

Tawanna has filed for divorce twice. The first time was in March, 2010. She withdrew that petition, then filed again in June, 2011 in Fulton county, Ga.

In that second round, she labeled their marriage as "irretrievably broken."

Tawanna requested sole legal and physical custody of the couple's children, as well as alimony and child support.
