DOYLESTOWN Legislation requiring school districts to share information about eating disorders with parents of children in fifth through 12th grades was introduced this week by three state legislators, two from Bucks County.
At a news conference in Harrisburg Tuesday, State Rep. Steve Santarsiero (D., Bucks) and State Sens. Chuck McIlhinney (R., Bucks) and Daylin Leach (D., Montgomery) discussed similar House and Senate bills intended to help families recognize and combat eating disorders.
In addition to providing information to parents, the bills would allow school boards to develop voluntary eating disorder screening programs and offer guidelines for parental notification.
