Where Trump Gained Ground in Philadelphia

Donald Trump lost heavily Democratic Philadelphia to Hillary Clinton by 455,000 votes in Tuesday's election, but that deficit was an improvement from Mitt Romney's 492,000-vote thrashing in 2012. The narrowing of the margin by 37,000 votes helped Trump carry Pennsylvania, which he won by 74,000 votes. The map below shows voting divisions, or precincts, in which Trump received more votes than Romney did in 2012, according to unofficial returns. Most of the divisions with the greatest increases are in predominately white areas of the city.
