Former President George H.W. Bush shaves head for Secret Service agent's son

George Herbert Walker Bush, the United States' 41st president, is donning a baldie these days in honor of a Secret Service agent's child battling leukemia.

The patriarch of the Bush political dynasty, who served one term in the White House between Presidents Reagan and Clinton, shaved his head and posed with the young boy named Patrick for a photo as well as the cadre of his Secret Service agents. The 26 agents, including the boy's father, also have shaved their heads.

The photographs appeared Wednesday on the fundraising website for the boy called Patrick's Pals.

"Earlier this spring, Patrick was diagnosed with Leukemia," a flyer on the site read. "While his prognosis is very positive, there will be many years of treatment ahead."

Bush and his wife Barbara lost a child to leukemia in 1953, according to University of Virginia's Miller Center. Their first-born daughter and second child, Robin, died when she was 4 years old.
