Chelsea Clinton talks politics with Glamour

Chelsea Clinton, wearing a blue floral dress, addressed a crowd of more than 100 fashionable women at a joint Glamour and Facebook event Tuesday afternoon.

"We have to come together and work together. As mom said, 'We are stronger together,' " Clinton said during a live Q&A at the Wells Fargo center that also featured actresses Lena Dunham and America Ferrera.

The 30-minute discussion touched on various campaign issues such as immigration and women's rights, with all three women chiming in.

Ferrera said she understood what Bernie Sanders' supporters are feeling. As a major Clinton supporter in 2008, Ferrera said it's a devastating feeling to really believe in a candidate and see that person not make it to the end.

"I remember that feeling," she said. But added that "we can't afford the alternative," referencing Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Asked about Ivanka Trump's passionate introduction of her father at the Republican National Convention, Chelsea Clinton said she would like to ask her friend how Trump was going to do the things Ivanka said he would do.

"My mom has consistently said how she's going to do things . . . And how she's going to pay for it," she said.

Chelsea Clinton said she is hoping for a record turnout of young voters, a demographic that has lagged at the polls. She thanked Bernie Sanders for what she called a "deeply moving speech supporting my mom."

She also repeated the now famous Michelle Obama line: "When they go low, we go high." The crowd cheered.

Clinton ended the interview by saying that she is proud that little girls will have something to aspire to when "my mom breaks the biggest glass ceiling there is in America."

The three women were quickly escorted out as guests - in lace, leopard prints, florals and carrying Chanel bags - were left to mingle over butlered hors d'oeuvres and cocktails.
