Supervisor earns state award

DOYLESTOWN A Doylestown Township supervisor recently earned the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors' leadership award, according to the association.

Barbara Lyons, chair of the township Board of Supervisors, was recognized for her role in renovating bike trails and playgrounds - including the renowned Kids Castle - and introducing educational programs to schools about local government and avoiding drug abuse.

Township Manager Stephanie Mason, who nominated Lyons for the award, said in a statement, "Her greatest strength is her ability to bring people together" and impact the community.

Lyons, a supervisor for 13 years, is the fourth official from Doylestown Township to win the award, the association said. It has been given out every year since 1990.
