3 Delco Democrats kicked off primary ballot

Three Democratic candidates for Delaware County Council will be stricken from the May 19 primary ballot, a county judge ruled Wednesday.

Three Democratic candidates for Delaware County Council will be stricken from the May 19 primary ballot, a county judge ruled Wednesday.

Jack Evans, of Norwood; Christine Reuther, of Wallingford; and Richard Womack, a lifelong resident of Darby Township, improperly filed the required ethics forms, according to court documents.

"We are going to appeal to the Commonwealth Court," said David Landau, the county Democratic Committee chairman.

According to the court documents, the person responsible for filing the forms followed incorrect procedure and ended up submitting the forms to the wrong office.

Andrew Reilly, chairman of the Delaware County Republican Committee, said that previous Democratic candidates had completed the same task for years and that the instructions are on the back of the form.

If Democrats cannot file forms correctly, "how can Delaware County residents expect that they will be able to follow the complex federal and state regulations to govern a county?" Reilly said.

Landau said Democrats were "confident we are going to win on appeal."
