Woman found dead in Ocean City was strangled

The body of a woman was found Saturday morning in the heart of Ocean City. Hours later, investigators said they had charged her boyfriend with murder.

Authorities say that a 54-year-old woman found dead inside an Ocean City, N.J. apartment was strangled.

Police on Saturday arrested and charged the boyfriend of Denise Webber, who was found dead earlier in the morning inside an apartment they shared near Ninth and Wesley Avenues.

Paul Kline, 49, was charged with first-degree murder, Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Ocean City Police Chief Chad Callahan announced just hours after launching the investigation. Police had been called to the Wesley Inn, at 916 Wesley Ave., at 8:40 a.m. to investigate a report that someone there had died.

Authorities said Kline had been dating and living with Webber. He was jailed after being processed at the police station on charges that included aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday while authorities continued their investigation.

The prosecutor urged anyone with information about the case to contact his office at 609-465-1135, or the Ocean City Police Department at 609-399-9111.
