A 24-year-old man found face-down on a playground in West Philadelphia early Monday had been shot in the head and back and was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

Police arrived at the playground on the 4000 block of Aspen Street and found the victim on the ground, according to preliminary police information.

Officers took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:46 a.m.

The man's identity had not been released pending notification of family members, police said. Police said they had no motive for the shooting, a spokeswoman said, and no arrests had yet been made.
