Name the Alligator Contest
It's been a whirlwind of a week for an alligator caught yesterday in Pennypack Creek.
It probably went from pet to sunbathing wild fugitive to bathtub lounger to zoo resident, with a couple of road rides in between.
But it still needs a name. So the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown is looking for suggestions.
Whoever comes up with the one selected will win a free membership, which includes reciprocal free visits to many other U.S. zoos, said spokeswoman Jennifer Magliente.
Some reports may say the critter's been dubbed "Cecil" by the state gaming commission, but, she said, the zoo reserves the right to pick its own official name,
One factor to consider: The zoo doesn't yet know whether it's a he or a she. Such a determination is a delicate proposition, said curator David Wood. A vet will be needed to perform the proper procedure.
As for names, he was thinking, maybe Lucky.
Snaggletooth sounds good, but I think it's already taken.
What's your idea?
Be sure to include enough information so the zoo can contact you. (A tip: Using the word
