Legionella bacteria found at Chesco high school

A high school in Chester County is closed Friday after legionella bacteria was found in its water system.
The bacteria at Kennett High School was detected during a routine test of the hot water system, the school said in a message to staff and families.
Officials at the Kennett Square school said an environmental remediation firm had been contacted to eliminate the bacteria, which can cause Legionnaires' disease.
No cases of the disease, a respiratory infection that can result in a serious type of pneumonia, have been reported, officials said.
The school said it had stopped using the boiler-room spigot where the positive bacteria sample was taken and shut down all showers.
