The Coast Guard said two people were pulled from Sandy Hook Bay after two boats collided on the water, causing one of the vessels to capsize.

Authorities said a 25-foot pleasure boat and a 30-foot cabin cruiser collided shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday in Spermaceti Cove, where the bay meets the Shrewsbury River. It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.

The two rescued people, who were both aboard the smaller vessel, were pulled from the water by Tow Boat U.S., a commercial salvage company. One was later flown to a hospital, but further information on their conditions was not immediately available.

Two people aboard the other boat were not injured.

A small boat crew from Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook also responded. - AP
