A former teacher who caused an hour-long lockdown at Cardinal O'Hara High School on Friday when he entered the school without authorization is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail in the Delaware County prison pending a preliminary hearing Thursday.

Walter M. Lion, 61, of Concord Way in Chadds Ford, was charged with two counts of defiant trespass and two counts of disorderly conduct when he was arrested at the school by Marple Township Police.

Lion was jailed after he was unable to post 10 percent - $15,000 - of the bail set during a preliminary arraignment Saturday before Magistrate Judge Ann Beradocco, according to court documents.

Lion lost his job at Cardinal O'Hara in 2008 for having pornographic material on his laptop, according to a school official.

Neither the school nor police have provided any information about why Lion went to the high school Friday. - George Anastasia
