Old City shooting victim dies of injuries

A 30-year-old man who was shot Friday night in his Old City apartment died yesterday, one of two men killed in apparent Philadelphia home-invasion attacks.

A 30-year-old man who was shot Friday night in his Old City apartment died yesterday, one of two men killed in apparent Philadelphia home-invasion attacks.

Police did not identify the man, who was shot in the head about 9:40 p.m. Friday and died at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He was found by his roommate, and the apartment appeared to have been ransacked, police said. No arrests have been made.

A 23-year-old North Philadelphia man died at 11:46 p.m. Friday after being shot by the resident of a house in the 3000 block of North 15th Street, said Lt. Frank Vanore, police spokesman. The resident told police that a shoot-out had occurred after two men allegedly invaded the house and announced a robbery. Neither the resident nor the dead man was identified, and the second robber escaped. - Andrew Maykuth
