Hit-run driver hurts two children in N.E. Phila.

Two children were hurt in a hit-and-run accident in the Castor section of Northeast Philadelphia yesterday. A woman believed to be the driver was found at a nearby house by police, who called in the Department of Licenses and Inspections, which said the house was in "unfit condition."

The children, ages 10 and 7, were not immediately identified but were reported to be in stable condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children with head and chest injuries.

The children were struck near Knorr Street and Summerdale Avenue about 6:30 p.m. The driver, initially described only as an elderly female, fled to a home in the 1200 block of Glenview Street, according to police reports. Details on the L&I infractions were not immediately available.
