Taxi driver is killed by SUV in Center City crash

A taxi driver was killed after an SUV crashed into his cab at a Center City intersection early yesterday, police said.

The driver of the taxi, identified as Alex Kotov, 55, of Northeast Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11th and Chestnut Streets around 2:30 a.m. A woman inside the cab was taken to the hospital. Her condition was unknown.

The driver of the SUV, whose name was not released, was expected to be charged, police said.
