$2,000 reward in Northern Liberties rape case

The Citizens Crime Commission of the Delaware Valley yesterday released a composite drawing of a man who raped a young woman in a lot in Northern Liberties. It also announced a $2,000 reward in the case.

About 11:15 p.m. Aug. 11, a man encountered a 23-year-old woman on Fifth Street near Brown Street and forced her at gunpoint into a wooded lot at 800 N. Orkney St., where he raped and assaulted her, authorities said.

The Crime Commission is administering the $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man. The money was posted by the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association.

The attacker was in his late teens or early 20s and about 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, with a muscular build, short black hair and a dark complexion. If you have information, call the Crime Commission Tipline at 215-546-8477 (TIPS). Calls are confidential.
