Burlington County murder leads to charges against 2 teens

Two teenagers have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man in Burlington City on Saturday, authorities said.

Two teenagers have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man in Burlington City on Saturday, authorities said.

Irie Y. Simmons, 18, of Pennsauken, was charged with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. Xavier L. Myers, 19, of Cinnaminson, was charged with aggravated assault.

The shooting occurred around 10:40 p.m. near Broad and Library Streets. Eric Thomas II of Eastampton was shot and taken to Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro, where he was pronounced dead.

Police found Simmons and Myers, both of whom had fled, shortly after the shooting, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said. They had first appearances Monday in Superior Court in Mount Holly.
