An Ocean County woman is accused of physically assaulting a 12-year-old boy with the cord to the child’s PlayStation controller.

An Ocean County woman is accused of physically assaulting a 12-year-old boy with the cord to the child's PlayStation controller.

Rebecca Smith, 28, of Jackson, was arrested Thursday by detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Jackson Township Police Department.

Officials said the assault left the victim, whose relationship to Smith was not disclosed, with multiple marks on his body and face.

The victim also told investigators that Smith would use controlled substances in his presence and that she failed to care for and feed his 8-year-old sister, prosecutors said.

A search warrant executed at Smith's home allegedly turned up evidence of the assault, along with narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Smith is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She remained imprisoned Friday in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $75,000 full bail and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.
