Mosquito Control helicopter crashes in Cape May Co.

A Mosquito Control helicopter crashed in Cape May County this morning.

The crash was reported at about 10:45 a.m. The helicopter landed in a sports field on Boyd Street in Cape May Court House.

The helicopter is registered to the Cape May County Department of Mosquito Control, according to Federal Aviation Administration records. The department said officials responded to the scene, but additional information wasn't available.

Middle Township police said the pilot and a passenger were both Cape May County employees. The pilot was not hurt and the passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said, though both were taken to Cape Regional Medical Center.

No houses sustained damage from the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.

FAA records say the helicopter is a Hiller UH-12E used for agriculture and pest control.
