Man indicted in slaying of woman found in Burlco woods

A man has been indicted in the death of a woman whose body was found in a wooded part of Burlington County last year.

A grand jury indicted 37-year-old Terrance J. Patterson for first-degree murder in the slaying of 47-year-old Lisa Armstrong, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said.

Prosecutors allege that Patterson and Lorain Hawkins, both of Trenton, took Armstrong from her Trenton home to a wooded area along Route 206 in Tabernacle Township, where they fatally shot her.

Robbery is believed to be the motive for the shooting death, prosecutors said.

Land surveyors found Armstrong's body on Oct. 7.

Hawkins was also charged with murder in the case, but she died of cancer earlier this month, authorities said.

Patterson is being held on $1 million bail at the Burlington County jail pending an unscheduled arraignment hearing.
