Cops: N.J. man nabbed with 15,000 bags of heroin

Police say a New Jersey man is facing drug charges after troopers say they found nearly 15,000 bags of heroin, worth $150,000, in his vehicle during a Delaware traffic stop.

Delaware State Police said 32-year-old Davon Tucker, of Paterson, was stopped for speeding on Coastal Highway near Beach Highway east of Milton on Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers smelled marijuana in the vehicle; when asked about it, Tucker handed over a plastic bag that contained about 2.8 grams of the drug, police said.

Tucker and his 29-year-old female passenger were then told to get out of the blue Nissan Altima so troopers could search the car.

Inside the trunk, the officers found a blue plastic bag that contained thousands of smaller wax-paper bags, bundled together inside freezer bags, according to police.

In total, police said, troopers found 14,994 small bags containing heroin inside the car.

The heroin, weighing 224.91 grams -- about a half pound -- had a distribution value of $150,000, authorities said.

Police said Tucker was charged with multiple drug and traffic offenses. He was being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $122,601 cash bail.

The female passenger is not facing charges.
