Snow expected for Philadelphia on Sunday

Expect February to end on a cold note today, just in time for March to usher in more snow.

Clouds moved in over the region this morning, bringing with them the chance for more snow.

According to John Bolaris, snow will move in around 12 p.m. today, and could leave Philadelphia covered with 1-2 inches of snow before changing over to sleet and freezing rain. Bolaris expects precipitation to switch over completely to rain sometime between 8 and 10 p.m.

More to the north, up to 3 inches is expected for the Lehigh Valley, while parts of Northern Montgomery, Western Chester and Upper Bucks counties can expect 2-3 inches before the snow changes over to freezing rain. Prolonged icing could be a problem Sunday night.

Southern New Jersey is also expected to get an inch or two of snow west of Interstate 295, while Northern Delaware will probably receive just a coating.

Rain should continue through the Monday morning rush hour, but temperatures will get slightly warmer, with highs expected to reach the lower 40s.
