Child porn website operator gets 30 years

A Ukranian man who founded an international hardcore child porn website was sentenced in New Jersey today to 30 years in federal prison for his role in a child exploitation enterprise.

A Ukrainian man who founded an international hardcore child porn website was sentenced in New Jersey today to 30 years in federal prison for his role in a child exploitation enterprise.

Maksym Shynkarenko, 35, operated a Ukraine-based website that offered subscribers images of "graphic, unimaginable child sexual abuse," said Andrew McLees of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Newark.

Shynkarenko pleaded guilty to conducting the enterprise between 2005 and 2008. Shynkarenko allegedly charged $79.99 for a 20-day subscription to the website, said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

The probe, spearheaded by Homeland Security Investigations, led to more than 600 additional criminal convictions for child pornography across 47 states, McLees said.

In addition to the federal prison term, U.S. District Judge William H. Walls sentenced Shynkarenko to a lifetime of supervised release. Walls, who described Shynkarenko's actions as "one of the most serious crimes imaginable in our culture as human beings," also noted that he would be required to register as a sex offender, but would likely be deported.
