A boy struck by a school bus this morning in Camden County, N.J., has died, according to a spokesman for the county prosecutor's office.

The unidentified 6-year-old, struck in the Atco section of Waterford Township shortly before 8:30 a.m., died shortly after the bus hit him, the prosecutor's spokesman said in a statement Monday afternoon.

"It appears while the bus was stopped to pick up children the victim began walking around the front of the bus," the statement said. "When the vehicle began moving forward again, it struck the child. An investigation is underway to determine if there was anything criminal in the child's death."

The boy was hit on Aqua Lane.
