Crews recover body of swimmer who went missing on the Delaware

The body of a man was recovered by police searching Wednesday night for a swimmer reported missing earlier in the Delaware River along Burlington County, authorities said.

The swimmer was reported missing just before 5:20 p.m. near Hawk Island in Delanco, a county dispatcher said. A New Jersey State Police marine unit found the body shortly before 7 p.m.

Marine units from New Jersey and Philadelphia participated in the search, as did the Coast Guard.

No further information on the body was immediately available.
