A New Jersey State Police trooper fatally struck by a car last week is being laid to rest Monday.

The funeral for Trooper Sean Cullen, 31, is taking place in his hometown of Cinnaminson.

Family members and officers from around the area were gathering at Saint Charles Borromeo Church Monday to memorialize Cullen, who died when he was hit by a passing motorist while investigating a crash on Interstate 295 in West Deptford.

Internment at Lakeview Memorial Park is to follow a funeral Mass.

At a viewing Sunday, he was remembered as a leader and friend with a great sense of humor. More than 200 friends, relatives and law enforcement officers, including many who never knew Cullen, came to pay their respects.

Cullen, a top high school and college wrestler, graduated from the state police academy in August 2014. He had a 9-month-old son and another child on the way.

The 22-year-old woman who struck Cullen has been cooperating with investigators. No charges have been filed.
