The man who drowned in the Delaware River near Burlington City on Sunday has been identified as a father of two from Edgewater Park, while the search continues for a man feared drowned on the river's opposite shore.

Thomas Scott, 24, was one of two people who disappeared while swimming in the river over the weekend.

Police said Tuesday morning that crews are continuing to search for the other man, who went under near Bristol Borough in Bucks County and is presumed to have drowned.

Burlington City police said the death of Scott, who has two young children, was being investigated as an accidental drowning.

He went under while swimming with two friends at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, officials said. Officials recovered his body about an hour and a half later.

Police said local boaters had tried to rescue him before emergency responders arrived, but were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, on the river's other shore, the search for another missing swimmer is on its third day.

Crews combed the water near Bristol on Sunday and Monday but have yet to recover the body of the swimmer, identified by family members to news outlets as Virginia resident Marquis Richardson.
