Salt truck, 2 rigs in I-295 crash

A crash involving two tractor-trailers and a salt truck snarled traffic on I-295 in Gloucester County early Thursday morning, officials said.

The salt truck overturned in the pileup in the southbound lanes near Paulsboro and the driver was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, police said. His condition is not yet known.

The accident, which is under investigation, occurred about 5:15 p.m. and closed the southbound lanes until about 7 a.m., when one lane was opened for traffic to get by.

It is not yet clear if icy road conditions were a factor in the crash.
