Police: Man shot boss at Glenside cab company in dispute over money

Ozzie Lou Clark Jr., 33, allegedly shot his boss at the Montco Transportation suburban taxi office in Glenside during a dispute over money.

An employee of a suburban cab company is facing charges for allegedly shooting his boss inside the company's Glenside headquarters Friday afternoon.

Ozzie Lou Clark Jr., 33, worked for Montco Transportation and felt that the taxi firm owed him money, according to a news release from the Abington Township Police Department.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m., Clark allegedly walked into the company's business office on Mt. Carmel Avenue and began arguing with the 45-year-old owner.

At some point during the dispute, police said, Clark stepped outside, removed a handgun from his waistband, walked back inside, and shot the owner in the chest.

He allegedly leveled the gun at three other employees while continuing to demand money. When one worker asked if someone could call an ambulance for the wounded man, Clark said no, according to investigators.

The standoff ended when another employee, a bookkeeper, wrote Clark a check. Clark took it and fled the area, police said.

The owner of Montco Transportation was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital and listed in stable condition.

A description of Clark's vehicle was broadcast to local authorities, and Philadelphia police later stopped his car near 72nd Street and Woodland Avenue.

Officers took Clark into custody and recovered the gun used in the shooting, police said.

Clark was slated to be arraigned Saturday morning on multiple charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, robbery, and weapons offenses, court records state.

He was held without bail at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 30.
