Cops: Driver flees after hitting Glouco house

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that fled after crashing into a house in Gloucester County over the weekend.

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that fled after crashing into a house in Gloucester County over the weekend.

Sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, a vehicle went off the 200 block of Central Avenue in Woodbury Heights and slammed into a house, police said.

The blue vehicle then fled, and is believed to have traveled on Central Avenue toward Alliance Avenue.

The residence was heavily damaged and the vehicle should have damage to its driver-side rear, police said.

In a post on Facebook, homeowner Lisa Schoettle Daniels said she, her husband and their two daughters were out of the house at the time and returned to find a hole punched into the wall of the girls' bedroom.

"The hardest thing I have had to do is explain to my children why someone would hit our house and not stick around to make sure any occupants in the house were harmed," she said. "They can't understand how someone can be that heartless."

Anyone with information should call police at 856-848-6707 or 856-589-0911.
