Man stabbed on SEPTA bus in Olney

A man was hospitalized Friday morning after he was stabbed by another rider on a SEPTA bus in Olney.

SEPTA said the incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. on a westbound Route J bus near C and Ashdale streets.

It wasn't immediately apparent what sparked the violence, the transit agency said.

One passenger involved in the altercation was sitting in front of the other. Witnesses told investigators that the two didn't seem to have any contact before the stabbing, and didn't appear to know each other.

The stabbed man was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment, SEPTA said. His condition wasn't available.

The other man was taken into custody.

The incident remains under investigation.
