Surveillance footage released in armed home invasion, robbery of Temple students

Police have released surveillance footage of one of the suspects involved in an armed home invasion and robbery at a residence of Temple University students.

Police have released surveillance footage of one of the suspects involved in an armed home invasion and robbery at a residence of Temple University students.

Investigators are looking for the men who accosted the students as they were entering the rowhome on the 1500 block of North 13th Street at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. They forced their way into the home and made off with cash and marijuana.

One of the men was armed with a handgun, and the suspects demanded money and other items from three residents, a 23-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.

The victims were forced to open a safe in a bedroom at the home, police said. Authorities said the suspects took $5,000 in cash and a quarter pound of marijuana before fleeing.

Philadelphia police on Thursday said one of the assailants was captured on surveillance video in the area after the incident and released photo and video footage of the suspect.

The robbery was not believed to be a random incident.

Temple students live at the home where the invasion and robbery occurred, but the house is not owned by the university.

No injuries were reported.

Police described one suspect as an about 20-year-old black man who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black skull cap and gloves, and was armed with a handgun.

The other suspect was described as an about 20-year-old black man with short black hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gloves.
