1 dead in Montco shooting

Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one man dead in Montgomery County after he was found several miles from where he was wounded.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office said police were called to a report of gunfire on the 1200 block of Locust Street in Norristown shortly before 9 p.m. Monday.

Officers found shell casings and other evidence at the scene, but the wounded man was located several miles away, inside a vehicle in Plymouth Township, officials said.

The man was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His name was not released because his family has not been notified.

No information about the circumstances of the shooting was available.
