Students to meet Jamie Wyeth

CHADDS FORD About 150 students planning to visit a Jamie Wyeth exhibit at the Brandywine River Museum of Art on Friday will get a special treat - a meeting with the artist himself.

First, school groups from Pennsylvania and Delaware will take a tour of the exhibit. Then, the realist painter, son of the artist Andrew Wyeth, will talk to the students and budding artists about his work and answer questions.

The Jamie Wyeth retrospective shows the artist's development over six decades and features more than 100 works, including paintings, illustrations, and sculptures.

Students include those chosen through an essay contest at Patton Middle School in Unionville; Advanced Placement art and advanced humanities students at Upper Darby High School in Drexel Hill; high school students at UrbanPromise Academy in Wilmington; and high school art students at Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington.

The Wyeth exhibit runs through April 5. - Michaelle Bond
